For more than 60 years, fetal bovine serum has become an essential component of various cell culture media. Though, nowadays, many serum-free and chemically defined media are prominent on the market, the growth promoting features of FBS on mostly all cell types are uncontested. This webinar elucidates the manufacturing process of FBS and provides a useful overview about its different variants, treatments, and handling tips. Special attention will be paid to choosing the right origin and post-manufacturing treatment of FBS for each specific application as well as providing possible solutions for commonly occurring challenges in FBS handling.
After the presentation, there will be time for a lively discussion to clarify further questions.

Sabrina has a PhD in Molcular Biology for her research about three proteins, which are involved in GPI-processing in eukaryotes. The work involed using various techniques including recombinant protein production, classical genetic analysis and structure-based analysis.
Since October 2023 she is working as a Product Manager at Capricorn Scientific, a German manufacturer of cell culture media, sera, and reagents.
