    Luminol generates blue-white luminescence in an alkaline solution when reacting with hydrogen peroxide generated by catalytic activities of peroxidase-like substances. It is used in criminal forensics for the purpose of detecting blood at a crime scene. The procedure has some limitations in mobility because the reagents are complex to make and unstable after preparation.
